Yep, another matte liquid lip colour. I have my favourites already and so didn’t need to try out another one, but as always, the grass is greener on the other side. I gave in to temptation and bought two shades: Rebel Red and Possessed Plum. Seriously, who comes up with the names?

On to the product itself, how did it fare?
Packaging: Clear casing enables you to see the shades easily enough, and the sturdy plastic casing means that it will withstand a fair bit of knocking about in the bottom of a make-up bag or handbag.
Texture: The liquid lipstick itself is a dry-looking, creamy product, similar in texture to the Collection 2000 lip cream and the NYX Matte Lip Cream.
Applicator: The applicator is a standard doe-foot gloss applicator and is effective enough, but doesn’t offer the precision you need with a highly pigmented product like this. L’Oreal claim that the slanted tip gives a precise finish but it’s not really slanted or tipped sharply enough. I prefer to smear the product onto a palette and apply with a precision lip brush.
Moisture: The lipstick is not drying on the lips, but to be honest, it’s not very matte either. It’s often the truly matte lipsticks that can be drying. Boots Online classify it as a gloss and while I wouldn’t call it a gloss, it does have a satin sheen rather than matte finish.
Pigment: The product, as you can see from the swatch is highly pigmented. It gives a nice strong colour, but I found that the colour on the lips was not even, and was not as smooth as other comparable brands.
Longevity: The product wasn’t particularly long-lasting and did rub off, much in the way a regular lipstick would after eating or drinking.
Verdict
Overall not a great purchase for me. It’s simply not as good as the NYX Matte Lip Cream or the budget buy from Collection 2000, their Cream Puff Moisturising Lip Cream. Most importantly, it’s just not matte. I can only really comment on the two shades I purchased, but from looking at other bloggers swatches of the full range, it looks like my two shades are typical. For me, it’s a nay.
