Holy hair cleansing Batman! Hair scrubs are everywhere!
What are hair scrubs?
Salt-based cleansing crystals that you add a little water, and massage into wet hair either as a pre-shampoo or instead of shampoo.
The Body Shop*** have revamped their hair care range in 2017, and this has to be my favourite addition to the range. I love the Fuji Green Tea body butter as it has an amazing but light, fresh scent. The hair scrub has the same fresh fragrance that really invigorates you as part of your shower routine.
Ingredients
Sodium Chloride, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Aqua/Water/Eau, Butylene Glycol, Octyldodecanol, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Phenoxyethanol, Parfum/Fragrance, Caprylyl Glycol, Menthol, Mel/Honey/Miel, Linalool, Limonene, Citric Acid, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate, CI 19140/Yellow 5, CI 42090/Blue 1.
How to use
I use this in place of shampoo every other wash, alternating with a honey-based shampoo. You take about a teaspoonful into the palm of your hand. Add water and slowly massage into your roots. Focus attention of the roots and really work it in. The lengths of the hair will get cleaned as you rinse out the roots, leaving your hair super-fresh and clean.
What are the benefits of hair scrubs?
The texture of the hair scrubs, being solid crystals that melt with the water upon massaging into the scalp, means that you can really work the product into the roots to loosen the dirt, dissolve oil and grease, and exfoliate the scalp, thereby reducing dandruff.
My daughter has beautifully thick hair but when I’m washing it, regular liquid shampoo take a long time to really work into the hair and half of it slips away down the wet hair before I can get right into the roots. This is not a problem that I’ve ever had myself, as I’ve got fine hair, but have been struggling with my daughters hair the past 5-6 years.
The massaging action boosts scalp circulation, which in turn improves the health of the hair roots, thereby improving hair quality.
The verdict
I was sceptical of hair scrubs at first but having tried them, I’ve been won over. I’ve also started using this on my daughter and she loves how it makes her hair feel squeaky clean. I can see this becoming a favourite in the Choudhury household.
